Back in April, I traveled through India and I wanted to share a recap of the incredible hotels I stayed in and visited. Every property offered a unique perspective on India’s rich culture, design, and luxury hospitality. For those planning an Indian adventure, I hope this overview helps in selecting the perfect accommodations.

New Delhi
Oberoi New Delhi
A modern and serene retreat in a convenient location. The highlights include a stunning rooftop bar, arguably the best in the city, an inviting pool, and exceptional service. The rooms feature floor to ceiling windows with green space views and bathrooms with white marble and deep tubs. I enjoyed a massage at the spa, which was both relaxing and reasonably priced. With three restaurants and two bars, this hotel is a solid recommendation for those seeking contemporary comfort.
Leela Palace, New Delhi
Opulence at its finest. Visiting for lunch and a site tour, I was immediately struck by the fragrant, flower filled lobby and extensive art collection, which is even offered as a curated tour. The rooms are traditionally elegant, and the three restaurants exude atmosphere and design. The rooftop pool is spectacular. This property is ideal for clients seeking a 5-star experience in every detail.
Agra
The Oberoi Amarvilas
Located on a hilltop with the best views of the Taj Mahal, this hotel impresses from the moment you arrive. We were welcomed with rose petals and a special blessing, while the soothing sound of fountains immediately set a relaxing tone. Rooms, many with balconies, offer expansive views of the Taj, the gardens, and the pool. I recommend a minimum two-night stay to fully enjoy this breathtaking property.
Rajasthan
Six Senses Barwara
My favorite hotel experience in India. Set within a fortified 14th-century palace, this hilltop resort includes two palaces and two temples, creating an extraordinary sense of luxury. From the traditional dancers and rose petal greetings to the beautifully appointed rooms and stone carved bathrooms, every detail exudes charm. The pool, complete with a shaded grotto, and the starry nights with live music created a truly magical stay. The only limitation is the surrounding area, which is quiet aside from the resort and tiger safaris.
Rajmahal Palace, Raas Jaipur
A charming boutique property with only 13 rooms, offering a blend of vibrant contemporary design and traditional elegance. The lush grounds, intimate pool, and colorful dining rooms make it a serene option for those seeking privacy and refinement.
Rambagh Palace, Jaipur
A traditionally elegant palace hotel with opulent dining and the standout Polo Club Bar. Best suited for clients seeking a classic, refined experience.
RAAS Devigarh, Udaipur
An outstanding property outside Udaipur. The 18th-century exterior contrasts beautifully with modern interiors, and each room offers expansive views of the Rajasthani countryside. A maze of stairs and walkways leads to numerous intimate seating areas and common spaces. The high-altitude bar is magical. Not recommended for small children, elderly, or disabled travelers, but a perfect 2-night retreat to relax, hike, explore temples, and soak up the atmosphere.
The Oberoi Udaivilas
This hotel combines grand scale with meticulous detail. Situated on the banks of Lake Pichola, it offers sprawling grounds, breezes, and incredible views. Rooms are spacious and luxurious, with pool suites featuring checkered tiles and vibrant umbrellas. Candlelit evenings with live entertainment and top-notch service make it a must-recommend property.
Leela Palace, Udaipur
Accessed by boat, this hotel delivers a modern, luxurious experience with stunning lake views from every room. The main restaurant offers modern, continental cuisine, and the tented villas with private pools provide a perfect honeymoon or anniversary escape.
India is a land of contrasts, history, and luxury, and these hotels represent the range of experiences available, from modern sophistication to palatial grandeur. Each property offered unique ways to connect with India’s culture, design, and hospitality.
